| Back against the wall
If youre going to try to retell a story, best to stick close to the original script. When former Yes guitarist Billy Sherwood decided it was time to pay tribute to the rock institution that is Roger Waters The Wall, more than a few asked, Why? With the attitude that no classic is truly untouchable, as well as great reverence for the original, Sherwood plowed headlong into the unenviable task of trying to pay tribute without desecrating a musical monolith. .
Loblaw tries to weed out bad apples
Both groups have a much higher incarceration rate than white Canadians. Both come from cultures which stress sharing of goods and produce, why does the govt pay lip service to multiculturalism. Boycott Loblaws, shop at Walmart. Posted 19/02/08 at 11:47 AM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment .
Bayview revitalization comes with huge price to black residents
Change is coming to Herman Autry's street in San Francisco's Bayview district. Just down Oakdale Avenue from the block where Autry has spent much of his 66 years, trains now glide into an elevated stop for the new Third Street light-rail line. The power company is putting underground the tangle of lines that block the neighborhood's panoramic views. And bulldozers have knocked down the old burger shack that served as a hangout for local gang members, making way for new condominiums. But Autry, a veteran Muni driver, worries the improvements are not going to benefit people like him - the African Americans who for decades have been the majority population in a neighborhood known as the city's most blighted. "They're fixing things up, but it isn't for us," said Autry, who has seen black families move out one by one.
Dothan, Providence face tough foes in Regional
The Rattlers feature 6-foot-6 guard Nick Williams, a Marquette signee, who is averaging 24 points a game. Today’s regional appearance is Dothan’s first under current head coach Terry Goodson and the first for the Tigers since the 2004-05 season when Jim Golden was head coach. Ironically, Dothan and LeFlore played a memorable contest earlier this decade in the 6A state championship game in Birmingham with LeFlore edging the Tigers in the final seconds, 58-57. Florala (17-8), the Dothan Eagle’s other coverage team in action today, hopes the third time in the charm against J.F. Shields. The Panthers have knocked out the Wildcats in regional action the last two years, doing so in the first round last year and in the regional finals two years ago. The Wiregrass does have a defending state champion alive playing in the regional this week.

The Torture Tape Fingering Bush As a War Criminal
Almost all of the time, the Washington I know and live in is utterly unrelated to the Washington you see in the movies. The government is far more incompetent and amateur than the masterminds of Hollywood darkness. There are no rogue CIA agents engaging in illegal black ops and destroying evidence to protect their political bosses. The kinds of scenario cooked up in Matt Damon's riveting Bourne series are fantasy compared with the mundane, bureaucratic torpor of the Brussels on the Potomac. And then you read about the case of Abu Zubaydah. He is a seriously bad guy - someone we should all be glad is in custody. A man deeply involved in Al-Qaeda, he was captured in a raid in Pakistan in March 2002 and whisked off to a secret interrogation, allegedly in Thailand.
New Year, old tradition: Elks Lodge ‘Buddhas' keep it coming, sell ...

'Flavor of Love': Elixir for a broken heart
Last night's episode challenge was to see which girl could heal Flav's broken heart. Aside from the "nursing" uniforms some of them wore, they were a bit creative. Ice's happiness plan: Throw darts at a picture of New York. But Tik's remedy of rainbow colored glitter had me scratching my head. I still can't make sense of that one. I'm glad he gave her the boot. Hotlanta, the Marietta mom of three is one of my favorites. And I think her remedy, a boxed clock with "It takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back," engraved on it, was the best. It's the same title of what is rap music's greatest album from Flav's days with Public Enemy. Ironically, one of the songs on that album, "She Watch Channel Zero?!" is about a girl who watches mindless and useless television shows.
Bealls, T-Mobile plan stores in Bluff
Among the expansions and new businesses, I'd like to mention that Real Life Fellowship is opening a campus in the old mini mall next to Funtrackers. When they open it will be the largest church congregation in Flour Bluff. It is a casual dress church with contemporary music. The pastor makes the Bible and it's message come alive and teaches us how to apply God's word to our lives! I would like to invite anyone who is interested to check the church out. The current Corpus campus is located at Staples and Holly Rd. , also in Portland in the movie theater on Sunday mornings, and coming soon to Calallen at the Bay Area Fitness Center!
